Cannabis is against the law in Belize, but in 2017, the nation amended its Misuse of Medications Act to decriminalize the possession of as many as ten grams for private use in personal residences. In spite of this, the creation, sale, and transportation of cannabis remain unlawful, and using tobacco in general public may lead to fines or jail time.
